Car Insurance GMC (Car Insurance). Ae86 1986 Toyota Corolla?Ae86 1986 Toyota Corolla? Im having trouble deciding which car to buy for daily driver. In my house we have 3 cars all front wheel but I want to get something manual. I was wondering would ae86 make a good daily driver car and if i did engine swap would it be good for racing to? I use to want to get civic but hella people in my area have ugly civics that are just loud along with tegs...so now im not sure if i want those cars. So My question is would ae86 be good on freeway if i did swap? also are parts for it cheap? While they are old (the newest being 24 years old) they can easily do double duty. First off, it's a Corolla. That means it will make a great daily driver, reliable and economical. Second, it's rear wheel drive with a very good chassis for racing. People have been autocrossing these since the 80s so you know they are proven on the track. Now the drift scenehas been around at least 15 years and the AE86 has one of the best chassis to deliver the goods. My take is buy one in good condition and have fun with it. GMC . How to Remove the Gas Tank on a 1999 Toyota 4RunnerThe 1999 Toyota 4Runner uses a fuel tank mounted between the frame rails behind the rear axle at the rear of the body. The tank is held in place with three bolts on one side and two on the other. It is sandwiched between the fuel tank skid plate and the frame. Before removing the tank from the truck, be sure the fuel level is nearly empty. Trying to remove the tank with fuel in it is difficult and very dangerous. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Wrench set Drain pan Jack Scrap board Socket set Flat-head screwdriver Pliers Step by Step : 1 Drain the fuel out of the tank by removing the drain plug at the front of the tank with a wrench. Be sure you have a drain pan or bucket large enough to hold the contents of the tank. Run the fuel as low as possible before removing the tank from the truck. 2 Position a floor jack under the center of the fuel tank protector. Place a large piece of scrap wood between the jack and the tank protector. Raise the jack until the wood makes contact with the tank protector. 3 Remove the five mounting bolts from the ends of the tank protector with a socket and ratchet. Slowly lower the jack, allowing the tank and protector to descend with it. Stop when you have enough room to reach in and remove the connections on the tank before lowering it all the way. If you do not, you will break the wires or damage the fuel lines. 4 Disconnect the hose clamps at the base of the fuel filler hose and vent hose with a straight screwdriver. Pull the hoses off the fittings on the tank and move them out of the way. 5 Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the fuel pump on top of the tank by releasing the locking clip and separating the connector halves. Squeeze the two tabs together on the clamp that secures the fuel line coming from the fuel pump with a pair of pliers. Remove the clamp and pull the line free from the fitting on the tank. 6 Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the fuel level sending unit on the top, passenger's side of the tank. Lower the tank all the way down and remove it from under your 4Runner. Tips & Warnings Never use an open flame on or around the fuel tank. Once the hoses are removed from the tank fittings, it is likely that you will have a lot of fuel vapors in the air so be sure to work in a well-ventilated space to avoid breathing the fumes.
GMC . How to Remove the Fuel Lines from a Gas Tank on a '93 F-150For the1993 model year, Ford equipped F-150 trucks with several fuel lines as part of their fuel and emission control system. The fuel pump delivers fuel from the tank through a supply line to the fuel filter and from the fuel line to the fuel injection system on the engine. Excess fuel returns to the tank through the fuel return line. The emissions control valve and the tank vent line control fuel vapors in the system. All of these lines must be removed if the fuel tank, or any component on the tank, needs to be replaced. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Small flat-head screwdriver Wrench set Wood blocks Floor jack Jack stands Fuel transfer pump or siphon Fuel can Large flat-head screwdriverDepressurize the Fuel System Step by Step : 1 Locate the fuel relay inertia switch behind a kick panel on the passenger side of the cab or under the dashboard on the driver side. Insert a small flat-head screwdriver under the big red button on top of the inertia switch. Pry the button up until it pops into the open position. 2 Start the engine and allow it to run until it stalls from lack of gas. Turn the engine over with the key for three seconds. Remove the fuel fill cap. 3 Open the hood. Loosen the terminal clamp bolt on the negative battery post with a wrench. Twist the clamp on the battery post and pull it off the battery. Remove the Fuel Lines Step by Step : 1 Block the front wheels of the vehicle with wood chocks to prevent the truck from rolling forward. Lift the rear of the truck with a floor jack. Secure the truck on a pair of jack stands. 2 Pump or siphon the gas out of the tank with a fuel transfer pump or a siphon kit. Pump the fuel into a clean container that is approved for use with gasoline. 3 Release the hose clamps on the fuel filler and filler vent hoses with a large flat-head screwdriver. Pull the filler and filler vent hoses off the tank. 4 Remove the fuel return and supply lines from the tank. Bend up the shipping tabs on the fittings by hand. Spread the legs of the hairpin clip slightly to release the clip. Grasp the clip tab by hand and pull the clip straight up and off the fitting. Discard the used hairpin clips. 5 Support the fuel tank with a floor jack padded with a block of wood. Remove the tank support and skid plate mounting bolts with a wrench. 6 Lower the tank away from the truck slightly. Reach up to the top of the tank and pull the vapor line off the emissions control valve. All of the lines are now disconnected from the tank. Tips & Warnings Use new hairpin clips for reassembly. Do not attempt to reuse old clips, as the process of removal destroys them. Exercise caution when performing any operation on a gasoline fuel system. Work in an adequately ventilated area far away from open flames or other sources of ignition. *a combination wrench." Figure 2-4: Combination wrenches, with one open end and one boxed end, are your best bet. Offset Wrenches Some combination wrenches are sort of S-shaped. Called offset wrenches, these are good for working in hard-to-reach spots. You may want to add a couple to your tool kit. The most useful offset wrench is the distributor wrench, shown in Figure 2-5, which you use to adjust your car's timing. (You need this tool only if your car has a non-electronic ignition system.) Be sure to get one to fit the distributor hold-down clamp on your vehicle. Part I: Getting Started. Figure 2-5: An offset distributor wrench is probably the most useful offset wrench. 156

Alien (or hex) ufrenches Some of the screws or fastenings on your vehicle may have odd-shaped holes in the centers of their heads that require special Allen wrenches — L-shaped rods that fit into the holes (see Figure 2-7). If the center hole is hexagonal, the wrench you need is sometimes called a hex wrench. You can buy a set of assorted-sized Allen wrenches for under $15. Part I: Getting Started. Figure 2-7: Allen wrenches. Socket Frenches A good set of socket wrenches, shown in Figure 2-8, can really make the difference between enjoying your work and killing yourself over it. Socket wrenches come in sets for a wide variety of prices, depending on quality and how many there are in the set. Sets can include either a mix of SAE and metric sockets, all SAE, or all metric pieces. Unless you've decided to become a mechanic, you can buy an inexpensive set of basic socket wrenches suitable for your vehicle for less than $25. Figure 2-8: A socket wrench set. GMC . The metric sizes most often used are 10,11,12,13, and 14 mm. The word drive refers to the size of the square hole in each socket where it attaches to the ratchet handle. It's easy to remember that the smaller the drive, the smaller the job you use it for. A X-inch drive is for tiny areas; %-inch drive is for the next range of sizes, typically up to SAE % or 18 mm metric; &-inch drive is for up to SAE IK, or up to 25 mm; and other drives up to 2 inches are for really big jobs (you won't need one of these monsters). You can use adapters to convert sockets of one drive to fit handles of another drive. A spark plug socket: This is the large socket with a soft lining to hold the spark plug securely without damaging its soft jacket when you remove and insert it, or when you drop it on the floor by mistake. Spark plugs come in two sizes, so make sure to get the size that fits the spark plugs in your car. Your owner's manual may note the spark plug size. At least one ratchet handle, to which you can fit any of the sockets: Most sets have two or three handles with at least one adapter. You may want to add additional adapters to extend the handle to different sizes and adapt it to different drives. Figure 2-9 shows the wide variety of sockets, handles, and adapters available.
